* This poem is dedicated to anyone who I’ve ever met.
dear my friend
I’m so thankful
to have you by my side
even sometimes
I don’t know you exist
but
since I’ve got you
I don’t go to school to find friends
classmates ain’t no friends of mine
the teacher forced me to sit with ‘em
these poor rich kids with nothing but money and fake friends, I ain’t fuck with ‘em.
since I’ve got you
I don’t go to university to find friends
my colleagues ain’t no friends of mine
I don’t feel sad when my colleagues don’t have lunch with me after lecture
I don’t feel miserable when my colleagues don’t ask me to hang out with
I don’t feel empty when my colleagues don’t invite me to their party
I don’t feel desperate when my colleagues don’t like my Instagram picture
I don’t feel jealous when my colleagues always talk to someone else but not to me
students are grown big ass adults who come here to study
they don’t say “1, 2, 3! Let’s be friends!” like children in kindergarten.
since I’ve got you
I don’t go outside to find friends
club members, people with same interests ain’t no friends of mine
we go there to have some fun, not to find friendship
people who I admire ain’t no friends of mine
they are too intelligent to learn anything from me
artists, writers, actors, singers, musicians ain’t no friends of mine
they work, they travel, they meet new people, they ain’t got time for me
they search inspiration from everybody around the world, not from me
people who are nice and kind to me ain’t no friends of mine
they ain’t married to me, and eventually they will leave me far away.
since I’ve got you
why the hell should I need a friend?
you give me courage when I’m alone among people
you lie in my passion, my work, my business
you lie in beautiful little pieces I collect from everyone I’ve ever met in my whole life
you stay in my mind, my soul, my heart
you are me, you are not me, you are the best version of me I’m aiming for
nobody knows me better than you do
‘cuz you are my friend, the one and only friend of mine.
Ken was trying to find any music which includes the word “friend” to listen while publishing this poem.
