Who are you? What do you do?
Hi, I’m Joana, I’m 19 and I never fucking learned how to read. Just kidding. I’m a professional procrastinator, binge-watcher and couch potato who also studies British and American Literature.
What or who inspired you to start writing?
I have always wanted to create my own stories when I was a kid, I even used to staple paper together to make a “book” and wrote a few sentences on each page.
But honestly, I haven’t written much until last year. I would occasionally start writing stories that popped into my head but I always seemed to give up on my ideas before actually writing more than one chapter.
What inspired me to write again is that I sometimes feel like complete shit and the best way for me to express my thoughts and feelings is writing. I mean, yeah, talking is great and all, but have you tried sitting in front of an empty word document or a sheet of paper and just start pouring your heart out, while creating your own little piece of art?
Tell us one random fact about you.
When I was about three of four years old I got lost at an airport. My family and I had just moved back to Germany and there was this pretty cool little walk-in playhouse at the airport. So, naturally I told my mom that I was going to go play and thinking she heard me, I just left her side. After a few minutes I wanted to go back to my parents but they weren’t there so instead of panicking I just asked a random lady to help me find my mom and dad.
My parents were totally worked up about it when we found each other again, but I was surprisingly chill for someone who still panics when my mom quickly needs to grab something while I’m standing in line at the supermarket.
