Fewjar. If you’re wondering how to pronounce that name, maybe try to make it sound like “future” and you’re on a good way. The Berlin-based band came to life in 2009 and is taking over Germany on their current tour presenting their new album “Gamma”. But who are they and why should you check them out?
Fewjar – it’s experimental, it’s new and different and it’s polygenre – a term created by the band members themselves, meaning they explore a variety of styles in their music. Moving through a great spectrum of genres, their sound is leaning towards Electro-/Synth-/Indie-Pop and Progressive-Rock.
The trio originally consisted of Jakob Joiko, Felix Denzer and Andre Moghimi. On Tour, they are reinforced by Michael Goldmann on the bass and Nico Planteur on the drums. Over the years ,the band has collaborated with various other artists, such as Tommy Blackout, Michael Schulte and even had popular Youtubers like LeFloid, SpaceFrogs and Frodoapparat appear in their music videos.
Their music videos are works of art in themselves and definitely worth exploring. They are beautifully crafted, with attention to detail for their often very futuristic looking costumes, make-up and animations. The band posts their music videos on Youtube, along with other interesting content like making-of-videos and roomsessions.
You can also find their music on Spotify, iTunes, Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
However, the best and probably most fun way of checking them out would be to go to one of their concerts. They are playing at the LOGO (Grindelallee 5) on the 3rd of June, so don’t hesitate and get your tickets here!
