*tba presents: Laura

  1. Who are you/ what do you do?

My name is Laura and I am 20 years old. I’m in my second term in English Literature Studies and Media/cCommunication at the University of Hamburg.

  1. What or who inspired you to start writing?

I’ve always loved reading and during my year abroad in Brighton (England) I discovered my passion for English Literature. I then heard of the student magazine *tba during the first weeks as a freshman and I thought: why not give it a try and write something myself?

  1. What is your favourite genre to write in/ topic to write about?

I have never really written anything in an artsy way so I first started writing recipes, reviews of cafés or restaurants and events. I really enjoyed the satisfaction of finishing a piece and eventually publishing it on our website. I love the feeling of producing a text, playing with words and trying to perfect my work. Although I am far from perfection I tried to take it a step further and challenge myself by writing something more creative. So a couple of weeks ago I wrote my first ever poem and I am currently working on a short story.

  1. How did you get into *tba?

As I said I discovered *tba in my first week as a freshman and, if I remember correctly, it was Marc Liam (the original founder of this wonderful website, e.n. Maria 😉 ) who handed out a list where you could note down your email address if you were interested in writing for our student magazine. I now think that *tba is a great opportunity for everyone who wants to experience writing own pieces, organising our website and events like *tba presents. I really enjoy working with all our team mates and having no limits regarding content or form. This freedom allows me to find my own style and that´s what I appreciate the most about *tba.

  1. Tell us one random fact about you:

I love wearing statement earrings!
