Preview: Lvtz Nachmacher – Art Exhibition @ Gängeviertel (Vernissage March 3rd, 8 pm)

When we talk about an object of desire, we are really talking about a cluster of promises we want someone or something to make possible for us. This cluster of promises could be embedded in a person, a thing, an institution, a text, a norm, a bunch of cells, smells, a good idea – whatever. (Laura Berlant. (2010). „Cruel Optimism“. In The Affect Theory Ready, eds. Melissa Gregg and Gregory J. Seigworth. Durham and London: Duke  University Press, p.93 (pp.93-117))

There are always so many shiney, happy people having fun. But how do we become them? Being happy and becoming happy aren`t that easy, it seems. What do we need to want to be happy? And if we decide to be unhappy, is that not just mere norm reversal?

On March 3rd and from March 4th to March 5th, we (i.e. two of tba´s own and one external friend) invite you to explore these and other questions at the Gängeviertel, where the group Lvtz Nachmacher will be presenting its very first art exhibition, “mind-break-me-not”. We will be exhibiting paintings, drawings and digital art installations. There will be drinks at the vernissage (for which you can decide how much you would like to pay (all proceeds directly support the Gängeviertel)), and we’re happy (and shiney) to be presenting two musical acts, the lovely Roland Cremerius, alias Alwin Störmer, and the equally lovely Anne Schmetterfeder.

What: mind_break_me_not by Lvtz Nachmacher

Where: Gängeviertel, Fabrique, Seminarraum (4th floor), Valentinskamp 34 a, best accessed via Speckstraße (next to Jupi Bar, Caffamacherreihe 37-39)

When: March 3rd from 8 p.m. (vernissage), March 4th – 5th (12 – 7 p.m.)

Further information: Gängeviertel Calendar, Facebook, Lvtz Nachmacher

holly, jolly book recs for the holidays

This time around Robin, award-winning literature critic, is not here to rant but to be wholesome. He talks about books he has enjoyed throughout this impossible year. Books you might be interested in yourself or feel like gifting to your co-worker Bethany. Robin also talks about being quirky and his only interest at this point, which sadly enough is Star Wars.
